Each panel is 48 cm wide with a joint on one side and a buckle on the other, so panels splice together to whatever length the run needs.

Most of the edging in this range draws a line. This one builds a little fence, and that is the point of it: it decorates the bed it protects.

Each panel carries ground spikes that push straight into soil, so a border goes in by hand in minutes, and comes out again as easily if you change the layout. The material is UV-resistant polypropylene. Plastic at this height, in full sun, is exactly where cheap material fails, so the UV resistance is not a footnote: it is what keeps the panels from fading and going brittle. It will not rot, rust, swell or splinter, and wet soil does not affect it.
Its honest limitation: it is a decorative border, not a retaining edge. If the job is holding back soil, gravel or mulch under real pressure, the per metre strip edging in plastic or steel is the right product, and the two are often used together.

How wide is each panel?

Do I need to dig to install it?

What is it made of?

Will the colour fade in the sun?

Can I use it around a tree?
Yes. Tree rings are one of the most common uses. Clip enough panels together to circle the trunk at the distance you want and push the spikes in.
Is it strong enough to hold back soil?
It is a decorative border rather than a retaining edge. For holding back soil, gravel or mulch under pressure, use the per metre strip edging in plastic or steel, and use this fence in front of it for the look.
Can I take it out and move it?
Yes. The spikes pull out of the soil as easily as they push in, so a border can be repositioned when you change the layout of a bed.
How many panels do I need?
Measure the run in centimetres and divide by 48, rounding up. For a circle, measure the circumference at the distance you want from the trunk or bed centre.
Does it work in a vegetable garden?
Yes. It keeps paths and beds visually separated and stops soil spilling onto walkways, and the plastic is unaffected by watering and soil contact.
Will frost damage it?
No. Polypropylene tolerates freeze and thaw cycles, and because the panels sit on spikes rather than in a trench, frost heave does not push them out of line the way it can with rigid edging.
Is it safe around children and pets?
Yes. The panels are smooth moulded plastic with no sharp edges or cut metal faces.
Can I paint it?
It is designed to be used as supplied. Paint tends not to bond well to polypropylene, so choose the colour you want rather than planning to repaint.
How tall is the fence?

Does it need maintenance?
Almost none. Hose or brush mud off when it builds up. There is no sealing, painting or treatment to keep up with.
Can I combine it with strip edging?

The panels are white, which reads cleanly against soil, mulch and planting.
Can it edge a path or driveway?
It suits paths well. For driveway edges, where wheels can run over the border, choose the steel edging instead: a decorative fence does not survive vehicle contact.
Do the panels come apart in wind?
No. The joint and buckle connection holds the panels to each other, and the ground spikes hold the run to the soil.
How deep do the spikes go?
The spikes are sized to anchor the panel firmly in ordinary garden soil while still pushing in by hand. In very loose sandy soil, firm the soil around them after insertion.
Can I cut a panel down?
The 48 cm module is designed to be used whole. For a run that does not divide by 48, curve the final panels slightly or overlap the line of the bed rather than cutting.
Is it recyclable?
Polypropylene is a widely recycled plastic. Check your local program for rigid PP garden products.
Does soil or fertiliser damage it?
No. The plastic is unaffected by soil contact, moisture, and ordinary garden feeds and fertilisers.
What is the difference between this and the stone effect bed border?
The stone effect border is a low kerb that sits on the soil line; this is a fence that stands above it. The stone border reads as masonry, this reads as a picket frame. Both install without digging.
How do I keep the run straight?
Run a string line before you push the spikes in. The panels follow whatever line you give them, straight or curved.

A frame, not a line
Strip edging is engineering: it holds a soil line and tries to disappear. This product is the opposite. It stands above the soil and frames the bed the way a picture frame holds a painting, and the bed looks more deliberate for it.
That makes it the right choice for beds that are meant to be seen: raised flower beds, the rose bed by the front path, tree rings in a lawn, the herb bed outside the kitchen door.
Why panels beat rolls
Rolled border fencing wants to return to the shape it was rolled in, and fights you at every corner. Panels do not. Each 48 cm section is moulded flat and connects to the next through a joint and buckle, so the run only curves where you ask it to.
That connection is also what makes the length right every time: order the number of panels, clip them together, and the run ends exactly where the bed does.
The easiest install in the range
Every other edging we sell wants at least a spade line cut first. This one wants nothing. Push the ground spikes in along the line of the bed, clip the next panel on, and keep going. A full tree ring takes minutes.
