A 3 m roll of recycled tyre rubber, 11 cm wide, that lays flat along a bed as a mulch coloured border.

This is the least like edging of anything we sell, and the quickest thing here to install.

It is a 3 m roll of recycled rubber, 11 cm wide, in a mulch colour. You unroll it along the edge of a bed and that is the installation finished.

It sits flat on the ground as a mulch coloured strip rather than standing up as a barrier, so it is a surface treatment rather than a root barrier.

The material is reclaimed tyre rubber, so nothing new was manufactured to make it and it does not break down the way bark mulch does.

The obvious use is the strip between a bed and a lawn or path where loose mulch keeps washing out.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (3 m roll)

Loose bark mulch has one persistent problem: it moves. Rain washes it onto the lawn, wind takes the light stuff, and every spring it needs topping up because a proportion of last year's has decomposed or migrated.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (3 m roll)

This is the answer to that specific problem at the edge of the bed. A rubber strip in a mulch colour stays exactly where you unrolled it, holds the visual line of the mulch, and does not need replacing next year.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (3 m roll)

It is worth being precise about what it does not do. This lies on the surface. It is not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, so it will not stop grass runners crossing into your bed the way the plastic kit or a steel strip will.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (3 m roll)

Think of it as the fastest way to make a bed edge look finished, rather than as a permanent structural border. If you need both, people commonly run a plastic strip in as the barrier and use this on the bed side as the visible surface.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (3 m roll)

The recycled content is genuine: it is made from reclaimed tyres, which is one of the harder waste streams to do anything useful with.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. We give you 15 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, then send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. Your province's consumer protection law covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this edging for?

Giving a bed or path a tidy mulch-look border that stays tidy. Lay it along a flower bed, a veg patch, a path or round a tree. It does the job of a bark mulch strip without the yearly top-up.

Is it real mulch?

No. It is a strip of recycled tyre rubber in mulch brown with a mulch-like texture. You get the look without the mess, and it does not scatter, fade or wash away.

How much do I get?

One roll, 3 m long and 11 cm wide. Measure your edge and round up. For a longer run, order more rolls and butt them end to end.

How do I install it?

Clear the line of weeds and loose stones, unroll the strip along the edge and press it down. No spade, no spikes, no trench. For a flush finish, scrape a shallow channel first and bed it in.

Can I cut it?

Yes. A sharp knife on a firm surface goes through it, so you can trim it to length and notch it round trees, pots and corners.

Does it follow curves?

Yes. It bends with a curved bed edge and rings a tree. For a tight corner, cut it and butt the pieces rather than forcing the bend.

What is it made of?

Recycled rubber from reclaimed tyres. It is light to carry, soft underfoot and made to live outside year round. It does not decompose.

How much does it cost?

$154 per 3 m roll (11 cm wide). Delivery is free on orders of $100 or more, so this qualifies on its own.

Are there other sizes or options?

One roll size is listed. If your edge is longer than 3 m, add more rolls. They butt end to end.

What do the photos show?

The strip laid beside beds and paths so you can judge the look. Plants, pots and garden props are not included.

Which specs should I check before I buy?

Roll length (3 m), width (11 cm), the mulch brown colour and that it lays flat on the surface. If anything is unclear, ask us first.

How do I work out how many rolls I need?

Measure the length of the edge. Divide by 3 and round up. Allow a little extra for cuts round trees and corners, then check your basket before paying.

Can I order more than one roll?

Yes. Set the quantity on this page or change it in your basket.

Will it stop grass roots?

No. It is a surface border, not a vertical barrier in the ground. If grass runners are the problem, you need edging that goes in vertically, such as the lawn edge kit or black steel. This strip sits on top and tidies the edge.

How should I prepare the ground?

Mark your line, pull any weeds and rake away loose stones so the strip sits flat. Check for shallow pipes or cables before you scrape a channel.

Any safety tips while fitting it?

Wear gloves, use a sharp knife on a firm surface when you cut it, and keep children and pets clear until it is down. Once laid it is soft and safe to walk on.

What if the ground is hard or stony?

Rake the stones off the line first so the strip lies flat. There is nothing to hammer in, so hard ground is not a problem.

Can I use it as a retaining edge or a step?

No. This is a flat garden border. It is not a retaining wall, not load bearing and not a safety surface.

How do I look after it?

Sweep or hose off soil and leaves now and then. That is about it. It does not need sealing, treating or replacing each season. Lift and re-lay it if you reshape the bed.

Can I check it will suit my garden before I buy?

Yes. Send us the measurements, a photo of the edge and what you have there now, and we will tell you straight whether this is the right border.

Is the price in Canadian dollars?

Yes. Every price and checkout total is in Canadian dollars.

What does delivery cost?

Free across Canada on orders of $100 or more. Below that it is a flat $30, shown in the basket before you pay.

How long does delivery take?

Allow 24 to 48 hours for handling, then 5 to 7 days in transit, so about a week in total. Every order is sent tracked and the link is emailed once it ships.

Can I use a discount code?

Yes. Enter it in the basket and it takes 15% off the goods. Delivery is not discounted, and free delivery is worked out on the discounted goods total.

How do I track my order?

Use the Order Tracking page with the details we email after dispatch. If anything looks stuck, email us with your order number.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Yes. This is a stock item, so you have 15 days from delivery to tell us, then send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price and the standard delivery charge. You pay the return postage unless the item is faulty.

What if it arrives damaged or wrong?

Email us with your order number and a photograph. Faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods are covered under the consumer protection law of your province or territory. We pay the return postage and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back.

Can I cancel before it ships?

Yes, free of charge. Email us with your order number as soon as you can and we will stop it before dispatch.

I have a big project. Can you help?

Yes. Use the wholesale enquiry page and tell us the products, quantities and your delivery postcode.

Where do I get help?

Email theteam@lawnedge.net or use the Contact page. Include the product name and your question, plus your order number if you have one.

What rubber mulch edging is and is not

4 min read LawnEdge Canada

The problem it solves

Loose bark mulch looks excellent for about four months. Then rain washes the edge of it onto the lawn, the mower throws it back, and by the following spring the bed needs topping up.

A rubber strip in a mulch colour holds that edge permanently. It does not decompose, it does not wash out, and it does not need doing again next year.

What it does not do

This is the part worth reading before you buy.

It lies on the surface. It is not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, so grass runners travelling just under the soil will still cross underneath it into your bed.

If grass invasion is the problem you are actually trying to solve, you want the flexible plastic kit or a steel strip: something that stands vertically in the ground. Plenty of people use both, with a strip as the barrier and this on the bed side as the visible surface.

We would rather say that here than have you find out in July.

Installing it

Clear the strip of ground where it will sit so it lies flat. Unroll it. That is the installation.

On a curve, let it follow the shape. Rubber lies down where you put it and does not spring back the way a plastic or steel strip does.

If you are joining two rolls, butt them and let the bark or soil either side hold the join closed.

Upkeep

Sweep or hose leaves and soil splash off it occasionally. That is all. If you reshape the bed later, lift it and re lay it somewhere else.

Page summary

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (SKU mulch-bed-edging) sold by LawnEdge Canada at lawnedge.net. A 3 m long roll, 11 cm wide, made from recycled rubber reclaimed from tyres, in a mulch brown colour, at CAD 154. It installs by unrolling it along the edge of a bed: no digging, no trench, no spikes and no pegs, which makes it the fastest product in this range to fit. It lies flat on the surface as a mulch coloured strip. Important limitation, stated plainly: because it is a surface treatment and not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, it does NOT stop grass runners crossing into a bed; the flexible plastic edging kit or a steel strip is needed for that, and the two are often used together with the strip as the barrier and this as the visible surface. Unlike loose bark mulch it does not decompose, wash onto the lawn or need an annual top up. Maintenance is limited to sweeping or hosing debris off. Sold as a complete roll rather than cut to length, so it carries the full 15 day change of mind window. Delivery Canada wide, free over CAD 100 and otherwise CAD 30.
