About this product
Walk it along the edge and the line comes back.
A rolling double sided blade on an adjustable handle, for maintaining an edge rather than cutting a new one.
This is a maintenance tool rather than an installation tool, and the distinction matters.
The wheel runs along a hard surface, a path, a drive or a patio, and the blades roll against the grass growing over the edge of it.
Where a half moon spade cuts one blade width at a time, this covers ground at walking pace.
The handle extends and adjusts, so it is set to your height and used standing up.
Double sided blades mean it cuts as you push and as you pull.
There are two entirely different edging jobs, and buying the wrong tool for yours is the usual mistake.
Cutting a new line into open turf is a spade job. You need a vertical cut to a consistent depth, and that means a blade with your weight on it.
Keeping an existing hard edge clear is a rolling job. Grass creeps out over the path a few centimetres a season, and you want to take that back quickly along a long run. That is this tool.
The wheel is the clever part: it rides on the hard surface, which sets the cutting position automatically. You are not judging depth or angle, you are just walking.
Being honest about the limits: it needs a hard surface to run along. In open lawn with no path to guide the wheel it has nothing to reference, and a half moon spade is the right tool instead.
Still deciding?
Not sure yet? That is fine.
You can change your mind. We give you 15 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, then send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. Your province's consumer protection law covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.
Keeping grass trimmed back along a path, drive, patio or row of paving, and neatening edges along fences and beds. It is a manual wheeled edger, not a powered one.
How is it different from a half moon spade?
A half moon cuts a new deep edge into turf. This rolls along an existing hard edge and trims the grass that creeps over it. Use the half moon to make the line, this to keep it.
What do I get?
One wheel rotary edger with the double-sided cutting head and the adjustable handle.
How do I use it?
Set the handle length, put the wheel on the path with the blades over the grass edge, and walk along the line at a steady pace. Let the wheel guide you. Go over thick patches twice.
Does it need power?
No. The wheel turns the blades as you push. No cord, no battery, no petrol.
Will it cut through thick grass?
Yes, with a second pass on heavy growth. The blades are sharpened both ways. Keep them clear of grass and they slice rather than push.
What is it made of?
A rolling double-sided blade on an extended, adjustable handle. Entirely manual.
How much does it cost?
$99. Delivery is free on orders of $100 or more and a flat $30 below that.
Are there other sizes or options?
One edger is listed. The handle adjusts to your height.
What do the photos show?
The edger in use along paths and the parts that arrive. Lawn and garden props are not included.
Which specs should I check before I buy?
The double-sided blades, the adjustable handle and that it is manual. If anything is unclear, ask us first.
How many do I need?
One. Set the quantity on this page or in your basket.
Can I order more than one?
Yes. Set the quantity on this page or change it in your basket.
Can I use it on a soft lawn edge with no path?
It works best with a hard surface for the wheel to run on. On a bed edge with no path, run the wheel on the lawn side and keep it steady.
Will it work on uneven paths?
On cracked or stepped paths you will need to lift and reset it at each step. It rolls best on a continuous surface.
Any safety tips?
Wear closed shoes, keep feet clear of the blades, and check the handle is locked before you start. Mind the blade edges when you clean it.
What if the grass is wet?
It will clog. Edge when the grass is dry and the cut is cleaner.
How do I look after it?
Clear grass and soil from between the blades after use so they keep turning freely. Keep it dry and put a wipe of oil on the blades before winter.
Does it come assembled?
The handle comes in sections and goes together without tools.
Can I check it will suit my paths before I buy?
Yes. Send us a photo of the edge you want to keep tidy and we will tell you straight whether this is the right tool.
Is the price in Canadian dollars?
Yes. Every price and checkout total is in Canadian dollars.
What does delivery cost?
Free across Canada on orders of $100 or more. Below that it is a flat $30, shown in the basket before you pay.
How long does delivery take?
Allow 24 to 48 hours for handling, then 5 to 7 days in transit, so about a week in total. Every order is sent tracked and the link is emailed once it ships.
Can I use a discount code?
Yes. Enter it in the basket and it takes 15% off the goods. Delivery is not discounted, and free delivery is worked out on the discounted goods total.
How do I track my order?
Use the Order Tracking page with the details we email after dispatch. If anything looks stuck, email us with your order number.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes. This is a stock item, so you have 15 days from delivery to tell us, then send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price and the standard delivery charge. You pay the return postage unless the item is faulty.
What if it arrives damaged or wrong?
Email us with your order number and a photograph. Faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods are covered under the consumer protection law of your province or territory. We pay the return postage and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back.
Can I cancel before it ships?
Yes, free of charge. Email us with your order number as soon as you can and we will stop it before dispatch.
I have a big project. Can you help?
Yes. Use the wholesale enquiry page and tell us the products, quantities and your delivery postcode.
Where do I get help?
Email theteam@lawnedge.net or use the Contact page. Include the product name and your question, plus your order number if you have one.

Rotary edger or half moon spade?

Two different jobs
People search for a lawn edger meaning one of two entirely different things, and the tools are not interchangeable.
Cutting a new line in open turf, usually before laying edging. This needs a vertical cut at a consistent depth, which means a blade with your body weight on it. A half moon spade or the manual lawn edging tool.
Maintaining an existing hard edge where grass has crept out over a path, drive or patio. This needs speed along a long run, not depth. That is this tool.
Buy the wrong one and it will feel like a bad product when it is simply the wrong job.
How to use it
Set the handle length so you are standing upright rather than stooping. That is the whole point of the adjustment and most people leave it at the shipped length and then complain their back hurts.
Run the wheel on the hard surface, right against the grass edge. Push forward at a walking pace. The blades cut on the roll, in both directions, so you can work back and forth over a stubborn patch.
Sweep the cuttings off the path afterwards, otherwise they root back into the joints.
Keeping it working
The one failure mode is grass and soil packing between the blades until they stop turning freely. Clear it out after each use, before it dries hard.
Store it dry and put a wipe of oil on the blades before winter.
What it is not
It is not powered, so it will not go through a badly neglected edge in one pass. Take two or three passes instead, or cut the worst of it back with a spade first and then use this to maintain it.

Wheel Rotary Edger (pick code wheel-rotary-edger) sold by LawnEdge Canada at lawnedge.net, at
CAD 99. A manual rolling lawn edger: a wheel runs along a hard surface such as a path, driveway or
patio while double sided steel blades cut the grass encroaching over that edge, at walking pace,
with an extended adjustable handle so it is used standing upright. It is a MAINTENANCE tool, not
an installation tool, and this distinction decides whether it is the right purchase: cutting a new
vertical line in open turf is a job for a half moon spade or the manual lawn edging tool, because
it needs body weight over a blade at a consistent depth. The wheel rides on the hard surface,
which sets cutting position and depth automatically, so it has nothing to reference in open lawn
with no path alongside. It is entirely manual with nothing to charge, fuel or service. Also used
for trimming overgrowth along fences and bed edges. Care: clear grass and soil from between the
blades after use so they keep turning freely, store dry, oil the blades before winter. Full 14 day
change of mind window, extended to 15 days. Delivery Canada wide, free over CAD 100.
